Future of our Youth
As a local community member and previously a High School teacher, a future for our local youth has always been a personal goal for me to achieve.
As Vice President of the Tasmanian Road Trauma Support Team (RTST), and activist to promote this program to all of Tasmania, the high rate of serious and fatal road accidents involving our youth has been a major concern. As the local member I worked with Schools and local groups to establish education and resources to prevent or assist those youths and their families who were effected by such tragedy. I will be continuing this work from a community level through RTST and fundraising for the cause.
With a suicide rate that has been quoted as 65% above the national average, youth at risk must be a key concern for the entire North West Tasmanian community. During my time as the local Member I constantly asked the question of people involved in organisations dealing with our youth what was the main issue for our youth.
The answer most commonly answer was "a future for our youth locally."
For this reason I will continue to work with various projects locally, encouraging investment which delivers jobs and support ongoing fundraising in the region for various causes.
